U.S. government funds possible vaccine for ovarian cancer.

2003 AUG 25 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Cancer researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have received more than $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Defense for development of a therapeutic vaccine for one of the deadliest diseases for women, ovarian cancer.

Women's cancer specialist Alessandro D. Santin of the UAMS College of Medicine is the principal investigator on the project. The grant of $505,123 for a 3-year research project is from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command. Santin is a member of the Arkansas Cancer Research Center at UAMS.
