Fed: Australians forced to flee strife torn Indonesian island

CANBERRA, Jan 19 AAP - About 50 Australians have fled the Indonesian resort island
of Lombok following an upsurge in religious violence, prompting a warning for tourists
to avoid travelling there.

The travel advisory came as an Australian tourist told of escaping the violence after
witnessing confrontations between police and molotov cocktail-throwing protesters.

Brendan O'Brien said the violent clashes appeared to be organised, deliberate and possibly
politically motivated.
