SA: Woomera escapees moved to Port Hedland, says lawyer

It's understood 30 asylum seekers who escaped from South Australia's Woomera detentioncentre last week have been moved to detention facilities at Port Hedland in Western Australia.

Their lawyer CLAIRE O'CONNOR says some of the asylum seekers have threatened suicideif they are not returned to Woomera.

A total of 32 asylum seekers are charged with escaping from the South Australian outbackfacility -- and had been held at the Adelaide police watchhouse since receiving bail onTuesday.

Ms O'CONNOR says two asylum seekers not taken to Port Hedland have been returned to Woomera.

The Immigration Department has confirmed the asylum seekers are no longer being heldat the watchhouse, but will not comment on where they had been moved to.

Meanwhile, 11 asylum seekers remain on the run after protesters helped more than 50people escape from Woomera during a mass Easter rally.
