Fed: Oddities of the Week

SYDNEY, April 8 AAP - Oddities of the Week:

Dwayne Black has the fastest clippers in the West. Actually, they're the fastest in
the world. By shearing 513 merino ewes in nine hours, Mr Black earned the coveted title
of fastest shearer in the world. He took around 60 seconds to shear each sheep in the
marathon effort.

Panic struck Hobart Airport this week when baggage handlers smelt a gas leak. While
they were right about the gas, it wasn't exactly the kind that warranted an evacuation
of the domestic terminal. Fire and Rescue services tracked the source of the stench to
a blocked toilet.

A man who thought he'd beaten cancer has been told he is actually dead. The family
of Lance Brooks received a letter from his credit card company to find out why the card
had been used since his `death'. "For a brief moment, I thought that maybe I had 'crossed
over'," the Darwin man said. The confusion was caused by the death of a man with the same
name in Adelaide.
